The International Association of Classification Societies published nine new recommendations on cyber security, with a further three scheduled for release before the end of the year.
The recommendations cover the need for a complete understanding of the interplay between ship systems, protection from events beyond software errors, and appropriate response and recovery procedures.
IACS recognised the significant increase in the use of onboard cyber systems and the corresponding need for classification societies to provide clear, consistent guidance on cyber resilience requirements for vessels.
